"Could Have Been a Night Like Any Other.."

You will be pleased and proud to know that I, Miss Penny Lane, am the proud new owner of *drum roll please*

Yes, I am a nerd. But you knew this.
J and I went to a library I pass on my commute home each day one evening with the mission to sign up for cards. Funny enough, one of my oldest friends (oldest, as in, I have known him since birth) was there signing up as well. Not even planned..I swear! So after receiving my totally rad card the three of us browsed for some much needed books. I ended up taking three home. I have already devoured The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and I am currently feasting on One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. I am loving it and am already hooked so I don't expect to be on this one for long.

I am super excited about all of the online perks one has access to as a library card holder. They have a free Antique Reference Center for price checking, information and history of pieces. This was Christmas early for my Antique Roadshow-ing Hubby. I can even download audio books if I wanted to and check them out. ASIDE: I have never tried an audio book. Does this count as "reading"?

My library card couldn't have come at a better time..as we just had a foot and a half of snow on Friday and Saturday this past weekend and as I type we are getting about 8 more inches. It started as ice last evening and is now snowing like crazy. My work even shut down. This is gasp-worthy in and of itself. Right now, as I type this, I should be getting bundled up to go help Hubs shovel. Since I am not a feminist, in the least: We operate in an Equal Opportunity marriage. No work is delegated by sex. He cooks, he cleans, I help with yard work and shoveling snow and we both do our own laundry. It works for us folks. Only, I really don't feel like shoveling today. *Sigh* Woe is me......

I digress. For my Reader bloggie buds, which I think most of you are, I have a new find I wanted to share with you. I was reading my weekly porn-Entertainment Weekly and while checking out the new book releases I came upon a fantastic review for a book called The Postmistress by Sarah Blake. A while back I asked my bloggie buds to recommend some reads to me because I was lost as to where to go next in my reading adventures. A lot of you, as well as a lot of work buds, friends and even my mother have been pushing The Help. The Postmistress was compared and recommended if you liked The Help. I am definitely looking forward to diving into that book. Check it out, maybe we could all do a little book club type question thingie (absolutely a technical term) if a bunch of us decide to read it.

Well I have jabbered enough. I need to get back in the game and shovel my poor car an escape route. I leave you with this: I am so thankful that this weekend is snow free. No shovels, no stuck in the house and maybe I can finally take some pictures. Happy Wednesday all!

You CAN take pictures inside your house too you know ;0)

I like that your library has that antique valuing system available - it seems they all do something special and different. We don't have that cool option - you would think in New England with all that old stuff around, it would be popular.

I have only experience one audio book. I counted it as a book completed for the year. It is not what I would consider "reading" because someone else is reading it to you - but it is certainly a story you have completed.

My library card is a prized possession. I would be lost without it.
