One Night and One More Time..Thanks for the Memories

I am so very honored to receive this awesome award from BeckEye over at The Pop Eye. I am a big fan of her blog and I look forward to updates everyday. She keeps me hip and current and she's freaking hilarious!!

Heavy is the head that holds the crown: The rules along with this are to pick a few of my favourites to award. (This involves listing). So Here goes:

I don't want you to think this is one of those occasions where I "give this award to the person who gave it to me out of niceness" bits. My first and top runner for this award would have to be BeckEye. Seriously. I start having withdrawals when she doesn't post something and everytime I see something crazy pop culture related I think to myself: Welp, Beck is gonna have a field day with this one! If you just want to have a laugh from an awesome writer and like to keep current please go check her out. Aside from all this: She loves Eddie Vedder and Ewan McGregor...so how could I not love her?? I really don't know what I would do without her!!

Next up: Rachel at {creative} living. This girl is seriously talented. She blogs about life, music and her amazing, amazing scrap booking projects. I love crafting and have a lot of friends into scrap booking but this girl goes way beyond anything I have ever seen! Her imagination and creativity fills her books and gives them a look like no other. I am amazed at each new project she posts. Aside from her creativity, Rachel is so thoughtful and in tune with the little things in life that make her happy. She makes me smile on a daily basis and her positivity is radiant! I am so glad to have her as my new friend <3

Next: Molly and Andy, my favourite New Englander's over at The Bumbles. They tackle photography, movies, music, books, life, travel and the Green Monstaaaah. They also do a Monday Movie Meme that is so delightful. It's the best part of my Monday. It's been a joy to get to know them a little better each week.

Lastly: Malcolm over at Pop Culture Dish . I started blogging about three years ago (under a different blogger account). I found Malcolm then. I was so excited to read his blog at each post. He puts some really radical trivia up about Pop Culture, always has a very interesting poll going on and he hosts a radio show-in which his setlists are crazy cool. I left the bloggy world for awhile and returned with the one you are reading now. The first blog I came to to subscribe with was Malcolms! Malcolm is the coolest of the cool and you simply must check out his blog!! He shares my love of making cd compilations so we are in the process of trading. I just received his 80's mix and it is utterly stunning!! (ps. Malcolm..I promise a full report soon..It's been busy with the holiday)

Last but not least: The Meme Mistress over at The Music Memoirs. I found this lovely lady in my first go around. Music is my life and this Music Meme is one of a kind. I have not found anything as interesting and as fun to participate with. I am in love, love, love with this meme (in case you had not noticed) and I am very thankful for it's author!

So, yeah, that's all for now :)

"Last Christmas I Gave You My Heart.."

To completely jack this idea from Rachel over at creative living (ps, she's amazing..you may want to check her out).

This is my ever-changing Christmas list.

Music Memoirs, Tuesday Tunes!

Tuesday Tunes: Week 110
Play it HERE:
yeah, yeah, yeah..I'm late...so what??

Let's go with the Twosday theme again...
Two instruments you wish you could play: Violin, piano.
Two songs that are earworms: Bad Romance and Love Game by Lady Gaga
Two albums you think everyone should own: Something by the Beatles (pick one), Clarity by Jimmy Eat World <3>

How You Doin.....?

I recently signed up for a Christmas Ornament swap over at The Mrs. blog. I just got my partner, New Girl on Post. I went to check out her blog and it turns out we are both into photography and LIST MAKING (muwahahahahaha). .

She had this nifty little area on her blog with like a little "Get To Know Me" section. Pretty radical. So I started thinking: Hmmm..what would someones first impression of me be if they stumbled on my blog??

I don't have much in my profile area, just lists (go fig, right?).
So, looking at this objectively, I can't decide what folks would think. I would say one thought would be: "This chick talks about music a lot".

Oh, and Jim...Yuppers.

I think my blog doesn't really have a reason, there is no one thing that defines me, unless you count that thing as music. There are no kids to blog about, no military life..I just blog about my life. Random-no rhyme or reason. That may seem boring to some but it's an outlet for me and thats why I do this.

So in the spirit of getting to know one another I have decided to compile a list!! (GASP)
A list of random things about me. I did this one time before HERE .

I am also going to be pompous and ask that if my readers (even those of you that stop by and read and never comment) have any burning unanswered questions to post them in the comment section, or that you, dear reader, List something random about yourself.
Knowledge is power and I like to end each day a little smarter than I began.

Here I go:

- I am always reading a book. I am never without.

- One of my goals is to learn a new song on my guitar every Sunday.

- I have been a fan of Jimmy Eat World since the 90's. About 600 songs on my ipod are under the Jimmy Eat World category. My office is decorated in J.e.W memorabilia, I have been to countless shows, met the boys on numerous occasions, have been an active member of their message board since 2002 and STILL visit there every day. I have traveled out of state for gigs (and am currently scheduled to go to Atlantic City to see them on New Years Eve), I think I own about every t-shirt they have made (seriously..they have their own section in my closet)...including a Western Tread t-shirt which is Jim's own record label.
I have two J.e.w related tattoo's on my right wrist. One is their logo and the other is my favourite lyrics "for every penny that you could". My friends call me the Superfan.
Understatement huh??

- My most loved item that I own is my guitar. It is a Fender Telecaster JA 90 (in red). It is a model that Jim Adkins designed and also plays. It's amazing.

- I can not deal with close minded people. People who think because they say it/do it/think it/feel it/believe it means that everyone should do it and if they don't then they are weird. Or a freak. Get over yourself folks. Everyone is different.

- I love, love, love, the Target Dollar Bins

- I think Jim Adkins hangs the moon. Seriously.

-I once waited three hours in the rain to have a photo taken with Brandon Flowers.

-I sing everywhere and all the time. It's in my blood.

- I have a tendency to re-name every new person I meet. I always forget names and I end up just calling the person the name I think is theirs (which is always wrong). Half of my work is nick named by me.

- I wish I could raise one eyebrow at people. I physically can not and it seems like a really radical thing to do.

-I try to remain positive in every situation. For several years I felt so bitter and bothered by so many petty things. Why? It feels great to just be positive, look at your lot in life, be thankful for being amazing and accomplishing amazing things, embracing your differences and the little things about you that make you rad....and most importantly: Looking at others and thinking that they want to be looked at the same way!!!

I think everyone is Rad in their own way. I have learned that when you realize everyone is different and can celebrate those differences then life is so much easier.

Seriously...try it. If someone is genuinely happy doing what they do (let your freak flag fly) then I think thats awesome :)

-I am at my happiest and best when I am creating something: Music, art, crafts, a photography shot

-My husband makes me laugh more than anyone else on the planet. He's awesome and he loves every single, crazy, thing about me. He even loves my Superfan status with Jimmy Eat World and willingly attends shows with me even though he's not that into them.

-I still own and play Nintendo. Russ (a guy I have known since Pre-K) have Super Mario Sundays, where we start at Super Mario Bros part One and play all the way through, no warps. Then move on to Part Two, Three, Mario World and the Lost Levels (which are intense..ps. btw)

-To keep with this, I love, love, love Call of Duty (the entire series). It's epic.

- I don't drink alcohol. I think I can have a way cooler time doing anything without it. (people always find this so weird about me).

-I still love Saturday Night Live. I started watching it in 1995. I would tape it every week. I still, to this day, Tivo it.

-My ipod (which is STILL not an accurate representation of my music collection) currently holds 4,340 songs. This number is constantly growing. You can/will hear anything on that guy! Jay Z, Patsy Cline, Hanson, Jimmy Eat World, Rage Against the Machine, Rascal Flats, Swing music...
I love all music. If the lyrics speak to my soul..then I am a fan.

-I love to receive snail mail. It's the best thing ever to get a card or a note. People should bring this back!!

Okay, I think that is enough randomness for the day :)

Don't forget your homework students!!

Santa Claus is Coming To Town..

Working for through my Christmas lists of what I am to buy people. I am just not feeling it...

I am slightly more excited about this really radical scrapbook/cd book I am making for a friend. It's a compilation of songs. Each picked for a reason. The book will have the lyrics to each song picked on one page and on the corresponding page will be a tiny envelope with a card featuring:

Artist
Song
and
Reason why I picked this song and what it means to me and the receiver.

There are going to be rando funtivities and pictures of this person and I throughout scattered.
I have only made a few of these books for different friends. It's a lot of planning, art, writing and just plain work. If you are super special you get one :)

I decided to make a really close friend one for her date of birth, which is coming up quickly. I have about 20 days to work on this before it's due. I have been slacking...go figure...Last night I actually put some pictures together and sent them in to be developed. This has got me pretty excited to get started now.

I will post pictures when I get some of it done. How is everyone else fairing on the Christmas front??

"On A Sunday I Thought It Through.."

I've been slacking since Thursday with the blog. It's been busy and crazy. It just kind of hit me that Christmas is just right around the corner. I actually purchased a few items as gifts yesterday. Usually this time of the year I am finished, so to be behind the times makes me anxious. Panic button anyone??

So to completely sell out, here is my post for the weekend :)

1. Name someone with the same birthday as you. The Mrs. We met in 1998 became best friends and have been through a lot together. Yes, we have the same birth date.....bizarro huh??

2. Where was your first kiss? My first real kiss? By the lake on a moon lit walk with my first boyfriend Marc. It was very sweet.

3. Have you ever hit someone of the opposite sex? If yes, why? I hit Russie on a daily basis..I am pretty sure.

4. Have you ever sung in front of a large number of people? When? Yes, on numerous occasions. I have done karaoke a bunch of times plus I sing all day at work in front of pretty much anyone.

5. What's the first thing you notice about your preferred sex? Hands. I like a nice hand.

6. What really turns you off? Close minded people. People who think because they say it/do it/think it/feel it/believe it means that everyone should do it and if they don't then they are weird. Or a freak. Get over yourself folks.

7. What is your biggest mistake? I don't really think I have one. I would have liked to be as comfortable and content with myself as I am now ten years ago. But such is life?

8. Have you ever hurt yourself on purpose? I hurt myself on a daily basis. I am a walking accident. I am always falling/tripping/running into things/knocking things over or just generally creating mayhem.

9. Say something totally random about yourself. I don't like television shows that recap. It is very annoying. No one needs a recap. Especially immediately after a commercial break. If I want a recap I will REWIND the show on my tivo. For those who do not own tivo, they were probably just watching before the commercial so knock it off. You waste 3-5 minutes recapping. Just knock it off.

10. Has anyone ever said you looked like a celebrity? Yes, some rando customer that frequented Suncoast. I worked there in high school and college. The customer used to say I looked like Sabrina the teen witch. I don't know why or how. I have dark brown, curly hair that is short and I wear nerd glasses. That chick has super straight, long, blond hair, no glasses. ?? Who knows.

11. Do you still watch kiddie movies or TV shows? Yes of course! I just purchased Up! and I was wanting to watch Walle this evening.

12. Are you comfortable with your height? NO!! I wish I was a little bit taller..(prompt rap beats)

13. What is the most romantic thing someone of the preferred sex has done for you? I would count romantic as anything really thoughtful. Folks are not thoughtful anymore. It's a shame. I'm fortunate enough to have a few men in my life that are extremely thoughtful and I would say I have too many stories to pick just one.

14. When do you know it's love? When you can't stop thinking about him. When you feel you are not at your best without him. When you want to stay around to take care of him through even the bad times. When you feel completely complete and you can be totally you with him. Yup.

15. What's something that really annoys you? Beeps, buzzes, constant continuous noise. Like watch alarms, people tapping on the desk. When my tivo freezes mid episode and I can't finish watching my favourite program, untied shoes :)

Per Your Request..

Mini Brownie Reese's Surprise

Per request of Andy and Molly over at The Bumbles. (Your wish is my command my loves)
It's so super easy you are going to be shocked and astounded. Here goes:

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
One box of your favourite brownie mix.
One bag of Reese Cup mini's
RECOMMENDED: Wilton's Cake Release ( I will explain this later)
Mini cupcake pan (see below)

STEP BY STEP
- Follow directions on Brownie box to make brownie mixture.

- Squirt a glob of Wiltons cake release into the bottom of each cup on cupcake pan
*I have tried everything imaginable to work with these brownies. Brownie mix is a very thick cake and it sticks very easy to the pan. Pam will cause breakage, plus it leaves a "taste", butter/shortening causes breakage, and mini cupcake liners will just CEMENT themselves to the brownie leaving a Pandora's box of a mess while eating. Trust me, Wilton Cake Release works miracles. They just fall right out.

-Brush the cake release on the entire cup area.

-Fill cup areas halfway with brownie mix

-Take peeled Reeses minis and insert one into the center of the already filled brownie mix. Do not push these all the way to the bottom just kind of let it rest there.

-Spoon a small amount on top of the reeses just to cover it.

-Bake as directed on box.

-Cool and serve. TIP: They taste amazing warm with cold milk :)

Tell All Your Friends

I have a Cullen Crest cake to complete this evening. This is going to majorly suck. The reasoning:

I hurt my wrist. My buddy/partner in crime/doctor Smithers says he thinks I have torn a muscle in it. So the question is: HOW did I accomplish this?

Well, it wasn't anything radical or awesome like rock climbing, bar fights or intense dancing..
it happened when I was SLEEPING.

Yuppers.

Sleeping. I tend to store tension in my hands and I clench my fists during bed time. Friday night I did this all night and happened to curl up on my wrist as well. It was turned in an odd direction all night. Saturday it hurt all day. It was minor. Saturday evening I consciously told myself not to clutch or curl up oddly. Well..I did. Only the wrist pain was significantly worse.

I told myself that it would eventually go away this week. Well it is Thursday and it hurts more than ever!

I attended a soccer banquet last night and it hurt to applaud for petes sake! It hurts to drive, type, write, turn doorknobs, forget holding anything in that hand...much less piping a giant Cullen Crest onto an 8 inch cake.

To make this situation even more Un-Radical, Smithers wrapped my wrist in a bulky ace bandage. My coolness level has decreased dramatically. He offered to draw a light saber or a guitar on it but I wasn't feeling it.

So this is going to result in a split cake of Team Edward/Team Jacob cake instead of the intense Cullen Crest. I'll post pictures tomorrow. Wish me luck with my broken wing :(

ps. the blog title is a line from a Taking Back Sunday song. It has absolutely no relevance to this post at all. Other than Iwas too lazy to really think of a song lyric that fit. Thanks for playing folks.

Volvo Driving Soccer Mom..

It's been the craziest week. I have a ton of extra work this week plus I have to travel to our sister office on Friday to do some staff training classes. This just basically means I get to go and teach a bunch of ungratefuls how to properly execute their job, give them the easiest test ever created (to which they can use their NOTES to answer) and then watch them bitch and complain the entire session about how they don't think they "should have to do this"

Oh boy, oh boy, I simply can not wait!!!! To top this all off this office is located in an extremely shady area of town. Like the part of town where they have a security guard escort you to your vehicle. Yumm. Again, can't wait.

Aside from this: Was super surprised to have a visit from the super cool Mother of The Mrs.
Mrs. Mom is the most amazing sewing artist. I love, love, love her work. We had a little deal worked out where I would do some baking magic for her in exchange for her amazing quilted bags that she creates.
Amber and I carefully selected our fabrics and were amazed to see the end result.
Ambers:

Mine with zip bags included:

Inside of mine:

PLEASE NOTE: The large pocket for my one true love; my ipod.
I am also pretty excited about New Moon release. I have promised the kids at Hubs school to make a Cullen Cake for the occasion. I have printed some stuff out. I am going to attempt to pipe the Cullen Crest on the face of an 8 X 3 round. It's a lot of working with black and white so I don't know how this is going to pan out. I want to try it out tonight as the cake is due Friday.
Tonight I have made these amazing treats for the soccer boys at Hubs school. I'm a soccer ma with no kids. How did this work out??
The treat: mini brownie bites with a Reeses Cup in the middle. They go over almost as well as my Oreo cakes. I will post the recipe if anyone is interested.
ps.
Top prize to the first person to identify what 90's band had a song titled: Volvo Driving Soccer Mom. No cheating bitches..

TWOsday, Music Memoirs

Tuesday Tunes: Week 109

Play it HERE!
Hey, its Twosday! Let's do some things in twos!

Two albums you want to buy: Weezer-Raditude, The Killers Live from Albert Hall cd/dvd (just got this last night)

Two songs you play the most: Play as in on the ipod or my guitar?? I will answer both: Ipod: Paparazzi-Lady Gaga and Mixtape-Jim Adkins
Guitar: Fearless and You Belong With Me-Taylor Swift

Two artists that you just can't stand: Jessica Simpson, Alicia Keys. Their voices are just whiny and they make me want to stick forks in my ears.

Two bands you wish would record a new album: Jimmy Eat World (but they currently are), The Toadies

Two concerts you were glad you attended: ONE: Jimmy Eat World at AU. I didn't have tickets and decided to just chance it. I was about 80% over the bronchitis and it was cold and raining. They played a co-headliner with Paramore. It was looking bleak but I finally gained entrance right before Jimmy E.W. came on (which is fine by me..not a big fan of paramore). They played a kick ass show that night. One of the best performances I have seen them give.

TWO: Killa-delphia show of Jimmy Eat World. Our car was broken into and it was not drivable. We got a rental out of the deal but during the debacle I was considering it would be best to not go. Ended up going and it was awesome. Great trip up and back, good times, good people, awesome show, great road trip :)

"Sing it Back Softly.."

Happy Monday!
Was updating my quote book last night and I felt the need to share a few of my favourites. To my readers (hahaha...as if I have a ton) What are your favourites??

"There's no point to any of this. It's all just a... a random lottery of meaningless tragedy and a series of near escapes. So I take pleasure in the details. You know... a quarter-pounder with cheese, those are good, the sky about ten minutes before it starts to rain, the moment where your laughter becomes a cackle... See, this is all we need. A couple of smokes, a cup of coffee, and a little bit of conversation. You and me and five bucks."
-Reality Bites

"If everything I meant to you, You can lick and seal then fold in two then I've been so blind....You said you'd never have regrets Jesus! Is there someone yet who got that wish? Did you get yours? Babe?" -Jim Adkins

"And did you get what you wanted from this life, even so? I did. And what did you want? To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the earth. " -Raymond Carver

"Woke up this morning with a terrific urge to lie in bed all day and read. " -Raymond Carver

"You gave me nothing now its all I got..You ask me to enter and then you make me crawl, but I can't keep holding on to what you got, when all you got is hurt" -Bono

"Is not general incivility the very essence of love?"-Pride and Prejudice-Jane Austen

"In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you"-Pride and Prejudice-Jane Austen

"If he loved you with all the powers of his puny being, he couldn't love as much in eighty years, as I could in a day"-Bronte-Wuthering Heights

"I have not broken your heart-you have broekn it-and in breaking it you have broken mind"
-Wuthering Heights

"He is more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same."
-Wuthering Heights

"I was born when you kissed me. I died when you left me. I lived a few weeks while you loved me." -Humphrey Bogart

"Do you know what this is? It is my heart and it's broken..Can you feel it?"
-Great Expectations

"I have built my entrie life around loving music and I surround myself with it. I'm always racing to catch up on my next favourite song. But I never stop playing my mixes. Every Fan makes them. The times you lived through, the people you shared those times with. Nothing brings it all to life like an old mix tape. It does a better job of storing up memories than actual brain tissue can do. Every mix tape tells a story. Put them together and they add up to the story of a life" -Rob Sheffield

"I wasted all your precious time. I wasted it all on you"
-Rob Sheffield

"What if you believed that everything in life was like a prize? What if you thought of the world as a big random drawing, and you were always winning things, the world offering them up with a big grin, like an emcee's: Here you go, Hollis. Here is a motorcycle. Here is a little boy who loves you. Here is a weird experience, here is something bad that you should mull over because it will make you a better person. What if you could think that life was this free vacation you'd won, and you won just because you happened to be alive?" -Dan Chaon

There's A Porcupine in My Troat..

It's Friday. Finally.

Here's to hoping the work day goes by quickly.

I work in a medical office so all day long I hear about the effin' H1N1. We, naturally did not get any vacines, but we receive calls all day long about it. Everyone thinks they have it, are going to contract it, or needs to be vacined for it.

It's the same thing with the flu shots. People go ape over a flu shot. If you are really old, I get it, but mostly it's just hysteria when October rolls around.

On the drive home I was listening to some light FM radio and they did a segment on what people are doing different since H1N1. One lady said she uses her knuckles on the ATM, another dude called in and said he uses his elbows to press the button for the elevator...
I was a little baffled. Hysteria.

I guess I'm the weirdo. I work in a doctors office, where we have come in contact with a few patients that actually had swine and I still don't use my shoe to hit the elevator buttons.

With all of this talk of Swine..I must report I did wake up with a sore throat this morning and a "pup" nose (as I call it...get it?? Pups have cold, wet noses?). We lost power last night due to remnants of Hurricane Ida (raining for 4 effin' days). No power, no heat. This resulted in a porcupine finding it's home in my throat.

Does this provide me with enough of a reason to have more than one cup today??
I think so :)

"Off With You.."

Some random bits for you:

It's been a crazy two days at work. A few changes are taking place. My boss of the past four years left on Tuesday. He was a great guy. We often sang show tune duets randomly. Lots of Sound of Music going on here. So to him I say: "So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye".

I got a big chunk of "new" work added to my already insane work load. I've been trying to sort this out a bit, make things flow. It's been such a long week. It's one of those weeks where the days just flow into each other and you lose track of time. Driving here this morning I was thinking it was Friday.

Nope.
Thursday.

It's been raining cats and dogs for two days with no intentions of ending until Sunday. This makes me want to lay on my couch and read a book. This also makes me sad because my weekly coffee date may be cancelled due to this.

Tuesday evening my Hubs arrived home late night and wanted to go back out to pick up Call of Duty Modern Warfare Two. Which is fine with me, I love CoD. So we braved the weather to purchase it. Of course, since he is a teacher he had off yesterday from work. This equates to Robbie playing XBox all day in his jammies. Yup.

Last night before bed I still heard the television going. I was perplexed because usually he is out like a light long before me. I called out:
"What are you doing?"

To this he says, nonchalantly:
"Saving the world".

Alllllllright.
Carry on then good sir.

Music Memoirs, Tuesday Tunes!

Tuesday Tunes: Week 108
It's November and this month is about giving thanks, tell us a few of the musical things that you are thankful for, be it albums, shows you've seen, electronics you've bought etc. Whatever has made your musical life better in the last year.

Yummy..I like this topic. Here it goes: In list form, because I can.

-Clarity X10-Two shows, two nights in a row (Jimmy E.W)
-Free tickets to Philly show (Jimmy E.w)
-Upcoming Atlantic City gig (Jimmy E. W)
-Muse-The Resistance

-Lady Gaga, in all her splendor. She's a nutter, that one, but I quite frankly, I love her.

-New amp cord that allows for recording input and microphone inputs. (thanks j)

-My new computer that has more musical capabilities for recording

-Pearl Jam-Backspacer and really "finding" Ed Vedder. He's seriously amazing.

-Chopin's Raindrop Prelude

-Patsy Cline's greatest hits-For helping me make all of those beautiful cakes along the way..

-My ipod. Okay, it's not new and I did not buy it this year, in fact, it's old and clunky and ridiculous but it's mine and I love it. It completes me. <3
-to keep with this: My iLuv headphones. They are intense.
-The new Jim stuff
-That amazing Travis show I attended several months back. Religious.
-Dustland Fairytale by the Killers
-Rob Sheffield's Love is a Mix Tape. Incredible book.
-Warm days, playing guitar in the sunlight at lunch or break. Singing in the sunshine.
I think that sums it up!
Oh, and P.S., By the way:

"It's Reality Show Clip Time!!!!!"

I am not surprised to report that my haircut didn't go as planned on Saturday. I showed the new girl the picture of what I wanted. She proceeded to cut all of my hair off. I got the basic style, just about two inches shorter than requested. Oh well, right??

What can you do? I am so accustomed to this action that I just kind of deeply sigh and say: It will grow back.

To completely change the subject: Does anyone watch the Soup with Joel Mchale? Well the clip of the week was freaking hilarious. Everytime I think about it I chuckle out loud. Which makes my co workers give me odd looks. I despise the Today Show. I always end up watching it though. I watch my local NBC news in the morning and in the process of running around to get ready the Today Show comes on immediately after. Well on Halloween, I left super early so I missed it that day. Apparently, thanks to the Clip of the Week, the cast of the Today Show dressed as Star Wars characters. They hired some dudes to play Ewoks. They were full garb, real deal ewoks. Super cute. Well they were NUTS! They were grabbing/drinking martini glasses, fighting and kicking each other and the one playing Wickett moon walked, grabbed his self and then proceeded to hump Al Rokers leg and then the ground. It was seriously the funniest thing I have seen in a long time.

Wild Nights in Merryland..

I am very excited that today is Friday. I have some wild stuff going on this evening and weekend. (quiet down Mrs! I really do!)

First of all, this evening I am going to Dunkin Donuts with Jzill to get some coffee. Coffee after 5 pm is probably a bad idea for someone who doesn't sleep much like myself, but I need an extra kick today. So coffee it is. J and I have been going out once a week to get coffee. The weather is just right for sitting outside at the tables and talking.

After cowfee tawk..I get to go to Wally World. *insert sarcastic smile* I really hate grocery shopping. Nothing good comes from this. In my next life I will be rich and famous and I will never ever grocery shop. True story.
Hubs has a late soccer game this evening so I am going to get extra cleaning done. I like help around the house but sometimes it's just easier to plow through on your own. Plus, with no one in the house I can blast New Kids on The Block or Britney Spears without getting moans, groans and eyebrow lifts. After work is done I will be going on a date with Christopher Straub. Mmmhmm...Can't wait. I hope he kicks some serious ass and is NOT in the bottom three again. No worries Christafa love-you are always in my top three *wink*

Tomorrow I have a hair appointment and mild shopping with Amber. I have not had a hair cut since February. My hair is out of control. I gave my lady a picture of what I wanted last time and she just went to town and did her own thing. I have had a sort of phobia since then. Amber has been on my case to trust again :) So I am off to a new lady tomorrow.

So yeah, that's it. Big wild evening/weekend. Hold on to your hat folks!
What are your plans??

"A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to.."

I'm slightly irritated. I wrote a post awhile back about song associations. You know, a song you hear that auto-magically sends you back in time to a place with intensity. Well I am irritated about a certain song assoc. that I have. I never really thought about it until these past two weeks. I wear my ipod for the whole 8 hours I am at work. I have a qa-zillion songs on it so the majority of the time I just set it to Shuffle and see where it takes me. I have heard a particular song on three separate occasions in the past two weeks. With a qa-zillion songs, 8 hours a day you would think the odds are pretty low that you would hear the same song twice...(I was told there would be no maths on this quiz).

This is not why I'm irritated..it's this specific song that I have a song assoc. with. I love, love, love Phil Collins. He's amazing. He's a lyric genius. Well about a year and a half ago I was making a friend a double disc compilation of "Cover Songs" that I thought were great. Again, I love Phil Collins and I love Against All Odds. While searching Limewire I found a cover of Against All Odds by Mariah Carey and some rando boy band. I am curious. Like a cat.

So I downloaded it..I wanted to hear this. MC is alright. She's kind of a nutter but she sings well at times. Really, I just love the song and the lyrics and when I love a song I like to often hear alternative versions of it. It almost reincarnates the song for me and creates a new meaning.

After it downloaded I clicked it to play. Immediately after hearing the beginnings of Mariahs voice my whole computer crashed. I was devastated! I turned it back on and I was, at the time, using Music Match to organize my music/playlists. When my computer finally loaded up I clicked on Music Match to reopen it and when it opened the ONLY song there was Mariah Carey Against All Odds. The rest of music was gone. It was the oddest thing. I am computer savvy so I did everything in my power to save my program and reload my music. Nothing worked.

I ended up just writing off Music Match and moving on to bigger and better things *cough, cough* itunes. So now, every time I hear this song feelings of anxiety, fear and desperation wash over me. It will FOREVER, now be associated with my computer failure.

Damn you Mariah Carey...I shake a fist at you woman!

What Are You On About??

You know the age old question/conversation starter/hypothetical: If you are at a friends house using the loo, do you have a look in their medicine cabinet?

Well what's the answer folks?
For me, I just don't get it..My answer: No. I honestly don't care to know.
I have a hard time working around people who do. Gossip, talk, Bull shit, and speculation..really folks?

I am a relatively private person. I don't really "talk" to anyone. Even my closest friends, I can quite honestly say, don't really know me. I just have a hard time really trusting people, letting people in, letting people help me. It goes back to that legendary quote from The Catcher in the Rye: Holden Caulfield said: "Don't ever tell anyone anything, if you do, you start missing everybody". I feel this is true. To divulge, is to open up, to open up is to get shit on. Simple enough.

Enough of my pity party, the point of this was to discuss privacy. Secrets. The sacred.
If my best friend left her diary sitting next to me I wouldn't even think twice.
If I were in anyone's loo I wouldn't look in their cabinets.
If a neighbor of mine came to the office where I work I wouldn't even fathom to look or peek as to WHY.

I just operate under the notion that if that person wanted to divulge information to me and trusted me enough to know this information, then said person would tell me. Other than that I don't care to know.

Am I alone in this? Is nothing sacred any more?

Tuesday Tunes: Week 107
A few fun questions for you:

What is the oldest album in your collection? (oldest as in you've had it longer than the others)Probably the first cd I ever purchased: Rage Against the Machine. I don't have any of my old tapes or records from childhood. My ma still has a few tucked away but what she has I am not sure of :)

What albums have you bought recently?
Just purchased Backspacer by Pearl Jam-amazing,
The Resistance-Muse

Where do you buy the most downloads? itunes, Only.

If you were to get a gift card from one music store, which one would it be and why? Itunes. It's the only program I use. They don't filter their music, they have pretty much everything and it downloads directly and easily to my ipod.

What do you have more of; physical albums or downloads? I have about a third of my collection transferred to digital. I will say that in the past year I stopped by physical cds (unless it's Jimmy Eat World) and just go for digital download only of new stuff. I don't carry the cds and cases, nor do I want them. I just buy it and end up uploading it to itunes and it goes in a pile somewhere to collect dust (null and void from this is J.e.w). So digital is the way to go :)

darkness..

it's funny how the sunlight can show everything so real.
in the natural light things look neat, pretty, in order.
when the sun bursts in you see what was under neath the mask.
the dust and unmentionables one is not supposed to take note of.

the night makes you forget how things really are.
in the sunlight of the day i really see you.
your eyes show the weariness of long travels
your mouth, lined with years of smiles and laughter
your hands, soft from touches
your forehead, lined with years of life.
living.

i don't know why but this makes me sad.
so much is there under the surface.
so many years i have missed and can't make up.
who was she?
who made you smile?
laugh?
pain stabs at my chest. why does fate have to be cruel?
why couldn't i have been there all those years?
me?
who makes you smile now?
me? who you think of during those long travels?

i'd rather remain in the dark.
in the dark you are just you.
in the dark you are just
mine.
