I was just sent a link to a pretty cool blog The Funky Monkey . Over at this blog you can enter a contest for Autumn Leigh Designs. This site has the coolest and cutest stickers, business cards and etc that you can get personalized. I am thinking of ordering some with my logo on it or even using some of her cake design stuff for my little cake making business. Please check it out and enter a chance to win some cool prizes here!
I have my first ordered cake coming up. It will be a sheet cake for about 40 folks. It's for a Wedding Shower type event. They were not very picky about what they wanted. Just some yellow and blues, the rest is up to me. I decided on pastel-ly yellows/blues since I think brights would be too bold.
That I love Erica???
Flowers from Class. I still don't like the Royal icing...I have to do masses of homework this weekend because all of my flowers for my final are not up to my standards.
Weight Watchers = Down 3 Pounds this week, for a total of 6! Woohoo!
Go to 3:52 to hear the honourable mention:
"This life has been a test. If this had been an actual life, you would have received instructions on where to go and what to do."
Terribly sorry if I have neglected to comment on anyone's blog. I have had a rough go last week. My cat of nine years had the beginning stages of liver failure and he was on an IV for three days in the hospital. I didn't feel much like talking to anyone. After picking him up on Saturday morning I had three days (took Monday off) to monitor his behavior and eating habits. I am so paranoid now. Scrutinizing every single thing. I think a little too much so when something of this nature happens it really throws me for a loop. My mind doesn't rest. Explains my insomnia right?
On top of this business I went to check some ebay auctions I was bidding on and my computer decided to just shut down. I thought maybe I had pulled the power cord out so upon investigation I found that it just stopped working. The fan stopped. It's dead. I have my Brudder-in-law looking at it. He is a computer genius. He had a spare power supply box laying around his apartment. Good thing I backed up all of my really important Jim stuff a few months ago...It still sucks not to have the Internet at my dispense. How did I function before??
Finally got to use Royal Icing. I was concerned that all of the flowers we were going to learn in Course Two were going to give me a fit like the.....duh duh daaaaaa....MUM. The mum and I don't mix.
Over at The Bumbles Blog on Monday Movie Meme
This week's movie topic is all about Water...
play it here..
The Goonies! Not all about water but it involved a giant pirate ship and One Eyed Willie and that water park type slide towards the end. I love everything about this movie. I have seen it so many times I could totatlly recite it word for word in a one man act. AND, I would. Seriously.
Deep Blue Sea-You know the one with LL Cool J and the shark on steriods that hunts people on this water island??? Everyone hated this movie. I honestly liked it. Sharks are rad. This movie was freaky because they were killer sharks with an attitude. I actually own this movie!
The Beach-(Leo DiCaprio)-This movie surprised me and is actually decent. Plus it has Leonardo Dicaprio as it's lead. How can one go wrong with this? He's amazing.
Big Fish-Ewan McGregor-I love Ewan McGregor and I loved this film. It is so incredibly visually and just a beautiful story.
Play it HERE...
Name two things you consider yourself to be very good at: Cakes, Guitar/writing/music
Name two things you consider yourself to be bad at: Making mums out of buttercream icing, playing sports-I am way too clumsy to be in charge of any type of ball in a sporting event.
Name one thing not many people know about you: I'm a the radest girl you will ever meet.
Happy Birthday Ma!
Boys are so incredibly oblivious. Seriously. This is a two-fer.
Tuesday evening I had a bit of trouble getting to sleep (go figure). After finally falling asleep and getting a couple hours I didn't want to wake up for work in the morning. I ended up falling asleep after the alarm was turned off and I was late for work. I rushed out of the house and without blow drying my hair. I just threw it up in a rubberband. Last night after treadmilling I checked my email and discovered I had a message from a gentleman I used to work with during my college days. We key holders at Suncoast Motion Picture company. He was insanely funny and we got on well. We kept in touch here and there over the years since leaving Suncoast. I have not talked with him in probably two years now. I have not seen him in about five. Needless to say, I was curious when I saw his name pop up randomly in my inbox. The message read this:
Funny story. I went to a new doctor today and you work there! I saw you in a side office and then again in the hallway but you looked really sick/tired so I didn't want to bother you.
Is everything okay?
Number One/A: YES, my hair was not properly done up but it was in a cute pony and I had make up on and I had this really cute black scrub top with little neon stars on it and I thought I looked pretty fabulous. Apparently not to this chap.
Number Two/B: The fact that a slash was used between sick and tired simply annoys the bejesus out of me.
Number Three/C: Do boys not realize that saying you look sick/tired is the most polite way of saying: "hey you look like shit!"
Number Four/D: What do you even say to this sick/tired claim?? How does one reply?
To end your suspense...I had to go into this long winded explanation of how I woke up late, didn't blow dry and how I suffer from insomnia and perhaps my sick/tired-ness was merely a look of frustration because I work in the 8th ring of hell and I was forced to help out on phones.
But yes, thanks, stop by and see me sometime.
At 711 this morning, getting some cafe, a boy attempted to make polite conversation with me.
DEGRESSION: I love, love, love 711. Honestly, the folk in there are like a large Italian family at a holiday. Everyone is so friendly. I want to join hands and sing We Are The World...
So yeah ------>This boy was talking me up, he was on his way to work and as he walked away I noticed that his pants were down under his arse and his red plaid boxers were just out and about.
This was the style when I was in middle school. Do boys really still think this is hot? Honestly, back in the day I didn't find it attractive so now I certainly don't. A few months ago I saw that redick rapper Lil Wayne ( I think that's his name) and his pants were basically resting on his thighs. Boys, just come out in your boxers if you are going to go that far. I don't know about you ladies but I like my gifts wrapped :)
A nice polo, khakis or denim (That FIT) and some Dr. Martens.
So under rated these days.
Okay, I'm done. Rant over.
Reasons today just may be slightly better than yesterday.
Number One/A: I came in this morning to find several nifty gifties on my desk one being, a bag of farm fresh tomatoes
Number Two/B: Season One of Secret Life of an American Teenager that I am borrowing. Both courtesy of Amber
Number Three/C: I was logging into my computer and I found that my buddy james had cut out a picture of Kevin Jonas's head and affixed it to the body of a photo of someonelse on my mousepad...Please take a gander...This got a laugh.
Number Four/D: I found a jim jim (that's Slim Jim to you folks) in my bag that I was given on Monday during cake class and I forgot to snack on it.
Number Five/E: Debbie Gibson's Foolish Beat just came on my ipod.
Number Six/F: I brought the most amazing salad for lunch.
Number Seven/G: The phones are not as hectic today. My co-pilot is out, as she has been for the past week and a half, I have been helping out. It's been a mess. Today I am actually able to sit at my desk and only have to help when necessary.
Number Eight/H: When I arrived at work this morning someone (*cough, cough, Erica) had already made me coffee. I may love her.
Number Nine/I: I have every intention of stopping and getting a Wild Cherry Slurpee from my favourite store, 711, on the way home.
I better stop listing things. This could all turn around. After all, it's not even noon hour yet.
Hope everyone's day is going as well as mine started.

The 4th was eventful. I hosted an out of control cook out last year. It was about 13-15 people at any given moment and it was madness!! This year it was a little more low key. It was great. Good food, good laughs, good times.
I have had off of work since Thursday evening so I was a little sad to get up at 6 am this morning and start the routine all over again. The one good thing about this Monday is that I start Course Two today. After work Amber and I have our Chick Fil-A dinner planned and then on to class. We don't have to make homework cakes this time around so we will have less to carry and hopefully will only have to make one trip to bring our supplies in this time.
I'm excited to learn more flowers with the buttercream. Fondant is the end all be all but not everyone enjoys the taste. I want to be able to do all I can with buttercream. Course Two seems like it is going to deliver! Speaking of cakes..I made a 4th of July cake for the occasion. I also made a rose cake for my ma, good excuse to get some practice in...
While practicing the tip placement just kind of dawned on me. It was like a moment where you are learning something and it just clicks. You just "get it". This happened when working on my blue roses. Here is the finished product.
We also picked about five pounds of Raspberries this weekend. I have so many I don't know what to do with them all. I decided to make a cake and incorporate some of them. I ended up doing a chocolate cake with a layer of buttercream, layer of raspberries and a layer of buttercream. I, of course, used the raspberries around the border of the cake as well and took the opportunity to practice roses again :)

A mate over at Trying Our Best-A Mommy Blog, has posted a few entries on irrational fears she has developed with getting older. I do have my fair share..like slipping on wet pavement, grass, floors, well..anything really. To my defense, this really isn't irrational because I am the most clumsy person I know. I have a few more I don't care to mention in fear that you will think I am insane. (Really, I'm not. I promise)
